You are a traveling merchant in the Old West with one goal: make enough money to buy your ranch. To get there you will need to trade smart, prepare for the road ahead, and make decisions that can either grow your wallet or empty it.

Sellin' Snake Oil is a roguelike trading game where you buy and sell goods across randomly generated towns in runs that last around 30 to 45 minutes. Every run starts fresh with a new map, new town economies, and new challenges to navigate.

Trading is the core of the game but it is not as simple as just buying cheap and selling high. Town economies are driven by what they produce and what they need, and world events can shift prices at any moment. You also have to think ahead. Do you spend everything on goods to maximize profit, or keep some money in your pocket in case things go wrong on the road?

The trail between towns is just as important as the trading itself. You might run into wolves and have to decide how to handle them based on what you are carrying. A wounded man on the ground could be genuinely in need of help, or he could be setting you up. Traveling merchants you meet on the road are your main source of upgrades, so those encounters are worth paying attention to.

Speaking of upgrades, they change how your runs play out in a big way. Expanding your storage lets you carry and sell more goods which is the most straightforward way to grow. But later upgrades start asking you to make real tradeoffs. You can cut your travel time in half but only carry half the goods. You can increase what you sell everything for, but bandits will come after you more often. These decisions shape the kind of run you are going for.

Sellin Snake Oil sits in a part of the western genre that does not get much attention. There is no shooting your way to victory here. It is about the everyday life of someone trying to make their fortune in the wild west through wit, preparation, and knowing when to take a risk.
