A.K.O. started with a simple idea:

What if an AI could actually live on your desktop and be useful?

Instead of building another chatbot that sits inside a browser, I wanted to make something that could interact with your PC, talk with you naturally, help with everyday tasks, create things with you, and simply be there when you need it.

So I built A.K.O.

She's an experimental, continuously developing desktop AI companion made by a single developer. A.K.O. is still evolving, and new ideas, features, improvements, and experiments are continuously being added.

A.K.O. isn't just a chatbot in a window. She lives directly on your screen as an expressive avatar that emotes, reacts to headpats, turns inward to face your workspace, dances to your music, and inspects files you drag and drop directly onto her.

🎵 Lyrify: Floating Synced Lyrics & Music Companion

Turn your desktop into a live music visualizer. A.K.O. automatically syncs with media apps and browser playback to project floating, real-time lyrics across your wallpaper, complete with an interactive playlist queue and micro-calibration timing controls.

📺 Live Desktop Subtitles & Translation

Listen to any audio playing on your PC — foreign streams, videos, Discord calls, or gameplay — and display translated real-time subtitles directly on your screen through a transparent, click-through overlay that never interrupts your work or gaming.

🎙️ Live Stream Co-Host & Chat Overlay

Streaming on Twitch, YouTube, or TikTok? Bring A.K.O. onto your stream as an AI co-host. She can read incoming stream chat, banter with your viewers in real-time, and integrates seamlessly with OBS via zero-latency Spout2 feeds.

As a solo developer, I'm continuously experimenting with new ideas and figuring out what an AI-powered desktop application can actually be.

Some features may change. Some experiments may not work exactly as expected. And there will always be more things I'd like to improve.

💖 Why A.K.O.?

A.K.O. is my attempt at bringing together the things I find interesting about AI into one desktop application:

an AI you can talk to, an assistant that can interact with your PC, creative tools you can experiment with, and an avatar that makes the experience feel a little more alive.

It's not perfect.

But I'm building it because I think there's something interesting about having an AI that actually lives on your desktop.
